Pollyanna - Long Player (1996, Mushroom)

I believe I had a request for this one awhile ago, spurred no doubt by my posting of Pollyanna's 1997 album, Hello Halo way back in the spring of '08. Halo was a game changer as far as I was concerned, and still stands as the Sydney trio's finest hour, but the preceding Long Player comes in at a close second. Their first proper album, LP piles on the bittersweet melody quotient in spades, flowing gracefully with the band's thick, post-grunge undercurrent. This album generated three singles, namely Pollyanna's first truly timeless signature piece "Lemonsuck," as well as "Potomac" and "Keep Me Guessing." To gain a better foothold on the group's entire discography check out this handy site.

01. Big Bully
02. Piston
03. Cut the Cake
04. 16 and Counting
05. Bakelite
06. Keep Me Guessing
07. Electric Cardigan Rock
08. Lemonsuck
09. Potomac
10. Squeeze
11. T-shirt Tan
12. Railride
13. Kickboard
14. Long Player

Brilliant!

It's funny how i ignored bands such as Pollyanna, Screamfeeder, and You Am I during their heyday, only to now dig out their treasures.

Thanks.

I think that was me. I sent off for Long Player in the meantime, but it was the special edition with Junior Rock, so I got plenty of bang for my buck. Thanks for spurring me to action with the earlier post!

hi, thanks for this one. Would you have more from Pollyanna? Especially interested in Delta City Skies or Didn't Feel a Thing...

Anyone here know whether the Long Player singles are worth tracking down for the B-sides?

The B-sides of the ´Long Player´ singles ARE DEFINITELY worth it... their cover of Kraftwerk´s ´Das Model´ is quite good... and their acoustic version of ´Railride´ is also fantastic.

I made a request for this album (Long Player) sometime ago... now, if someone could be so kind to upload ´Junior Rock´, I would be most appreciative... these tunes still go thru my head at opportune times... truly timeless classics...

Oh, and Todd... if you do have those B-sides... post the buggers... They are easily on par with the album tracks... I would do so but, as I used to have them on tape (long since stolen or lost), I am unable...

Cheers and Beers

Wish I did, Mick. I tried to order them through the Pollyanna web site years ago but never heard back.

I'll be uploading more Pollyanna in due time, including some import singles.

Thank you! Wish they were still available somewhere.

I'm afraid of sounding like an ingrate, but are any of those import singles still on the way?

Thanks, whatever the answer.

I have a question about this version of Long Player. According to discogs https://www.discogs.com/master/1058999-Pollyanna-Long-Player it's a 13 track CD. I'm trying to figure it if the one you've got is one of those releases (and track 14 was hidden) or if it was released in North America with an extra track and that version hasn't made it to discogs. thanks.
