Folks, please don't give away who the Mystery Monday artist in the comments. It's supposed to remain a mystery - download the file...and keep it to yourself (at least for 48 hours).
Actually, I've been surprised at the number of people I've encountered who haven't heard that song. Or heard it upon its release and forgot all about it until I shared a digital file with them. I'm a long-time fan of the debut album, having luckily found a promo copy for .50 cents at a Goodwill store back when it was still a new release and sitting in the bins at the local Record Bar. Quite a score. But I never came across another piece of vinyl from them, so that was all I knew until the age of downloading. Thanks to music sharing, I discovered the mix of "that song" that's used in this collection, which I've somehow come to imagine was the original album/single mix released in the UK, though I don't know that for certain. While it's not bad (seems a little faster, certainly more "rock"), I still prefer the more spare, cleaner-sounding mix that was used for the U.S. album release. If there is actually anyone listening here who is encountering the quoted song for the first time, and likes it enough to bother, I'd suggest they go in search of the other mix and see what they think of that one. There's also lots of other great stuff on this collection. I hope everyone checks it out.
The single mix trumps the album version big time. I think it's fair to say they're totally different recordings and not mixes at all. That's why I included the single version as well.

Don't know this record, but I'm digging it quite about. Thanks!
