The Distant - Secrets of Desire (1986)

Too forward-thinking to qualify as a bar band, nor antiseptic/plain enough for the AOR set, this Arizona foursome just might not have quite fit in...anywhere.  If anything else The Distant were plenty proficient, and even ballsy on the fevered "Wet Stranger."  Otherwise, Secrets of Desires settles on a mid-tempo pace, while managing to explore some faint tangents. Michael Edwards noodly fretwork on "Ashes in Urns" vaguely resembles that of D. Boon, but don't get your hopes up, as the Distant were no equals to the Minutemen.  It appears Secret... was their one and only record.
