Update 12/28/09: I know a lot of you were looking forward to hearing these recordings, but it has been requested that I remove them immediately. My apologizes, and thanks for your appreciative comments.
Just wanted to say Happy Holidays and thank you for all the great music this year. This might be my favorite music blog on the net. You have great taste (read: unique, similar to mine!). Not too crazy about the Smithereens, but you have introduced me to some great, unknown stuff. I appreciate it.
I am a big fan of the 80s Smithereens. Saw them several times at The Paradise. Loudest band I have ever heard. My wife and I had ringing ears for a week (and no doubt permanent damage).
Been a fan of these guys for over twenty years! And I, too, had no idea that this even existed. Thank you for such a massive Christmas present! Happy Holidays!
As much as I love these guys there is no way I'm going to listen to all 21 discs. I have, however, listened to the Green Thoughts and 11 live comps and they are great. I really enjoy the electric/ acoustic juxtapositions. Fantastic stuff. Thanks for the post! And thanks to the Smithereens for the great music!
Wow, this is super-rare stuff. It was assembled by Pat DiNizio, who was briefly selling it on his website without the knowledge of his bandmates. The other Smithereens were mortified when they found out, forcing him to stop selling it. So I imagine that that there are very few copies out there.
And 90s and 00's. I wish, however, instead of Beatles & Who covers, there would be another album of originals. Anyone who has missed out on Dennis Diken's solo album this past year should definitely seek it out. It's terrific. I also really have enjoyed Pat's solo stuff.
I've always wanted to own this but it looks like I'm way late...is there any way you can point me in the direction of obtaining these tracks?? thanks, awesome blog
Wow! Simply amazing! Never even knew this existed - thanks!!

Any chance of a holiday re-up? I was having computer problems at the time (oh, yeah, and busy with family!) last year and only checked out one.
ReplyDeleteI understand if you can't.

Would LOVE to see this re-upped!
ReplyDeleteAny chance you could post this as of Pat's passing?
